About Darcy Dombey

About me

I earned a B.A. in Studio Art at Baylor University and started work on an M.F.A. at Texas Tech. Much of my school work was semi-abstract printmaking, but in recent years I have found great joy in two subjects – children’s murals and pet portraits.

As a life-long dog lover, I am inspired by the loyal, noble, ridiculous companions we choose to add to our families. The first portrait I painted was of my Boston Terrier Ruby’s “crazy face”. I soon added one of my beautiful, clownish Doberman Reyna. I love the paintings, and I truly enjoy providing a lasting tribute to other people’s beloved animals as well. The portraits make wonderful gifts.

Seeing a child’s eyes light up when they see a dolphin, train, or princess castle in their very own room is incredibly fun. However, after the birth of my first daughter, I realized just how special a nursery can be. Parents spend an enormous amount of time in their baby’s room, and it should be a personalized place that makes everyone feel happy.

Thank you for visiting my site, and I hope to get to know you and your kids (furry or not) soon!

How we can work together

Pet Portraits

I work from photos you provide. The painting will take on a life of its own, but please choose one that represents your pet’s unique personality. The photos should be clear and show a favorite expression or pose. Remember, your pet’s eyes are an important part of the portrait!

Commissioned portraits start at $540 for an 11×14 canvas, $560 for 12×16, and $595 for 16×20. Larger sizes also available.

Please call or email me for an accurate quote, estimated turnaround time, and payment and delivery options.

Custom Murals

I can work from an idea you already have in mind, or we can collaborate to create a theme together. I may draw a very rough outline sketch, but the mural always takes on a life of it’s own.

Each project is priced individually, but generally the cost is $400 per day. Most murals shown on this site took from two to four days to complete. A smaller or more simple mural may only take a half or a quarter day.If needed, I can visit your home to view the space, the base colors, and your inspiration pieces.darcy dombey

Once we decide on the idea and the scope of work, I will give you a fixed price estimate and schedule the painting.  Please call or email for an accurate quote, estimated turnaround time, and payment options.

At this time I serve the greater Phoenix, Arizona area. Trips to other locations may be arranged on an individual basis.
